Elaine Murkin, MSc, RD
Public Health Nutritionist
Elaine
Murkin is currently a Public Health Nutritionist with the
City of Ottawa Public Health and Long-term Care Branch. Elaine
began her nutrition work with Health Canada's Prenatal Nutrition
Program (CPNP) and was involved in the design, testing and
implementation of a tool to measure food behaviour changes
in women who attended CPNP programs in Ontario, Manitoba and
British Columbia. She has also been involved with an extensive
review of school nutrition policies across Canada. In her
current position, Elaine works on a variety of programs to
promote healthy eating and healthy weights through restaurant
and cafeteria programs, a Vegetable and Fruit Campaign, work
with vulnerable populations and providing liaison between
the federal, provincial and municipal governments. As a Public
Health Nutritionist, Elaine is also involved in creating and
reviewing nutrition displays and resources that are used to
educate the public about healthy eating and healthy weights
and does presentations in the community and in various workplaces.
Sue Mah, M.H.Sc., RD
Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Consultant
Sue
is a Toronto-based Registered Dietitian specializing in nutrition
communications, education and sports nutrition. With a passion
for food, health and fitness, Sue translates the science of
nutrition into easy to understand, practical advice for Canadians.
With a young toddler and another baby on the way, Sue understands
the joys and challenges in feeding young ones! She has been
a featured nutrition expert from coast to coast with appearances
on Canada AM, Global TV, City TV, Life Network, Women's Television
Network, WTSN, The Discovery Channel and numerous local media
outlets. Sue offers nutrition workshops on a variety of topics
and is also the nutrition columnist for The Health Journal.
